We live in a culture of merit where success is based on performance. If we're successful, we feel superior and accepted. If we aren't, we feel inferior and ignored.
Perhaps you see your acceptance with God the same way; it comes from your goodness, achievements, performance, or the depth of your theology. This is not the message of the Christian faith. Christianity is about grace and second chances.
